This work package addresses the impact of gender and intersectional factors on co-construction and ways to fight inequalities and crises in decision-making participation. DC 8 examines means of combatting stigma and exclusion of mentally ill citizens through community work; DC9 will develop methods to involve people suffering from a range of inequalities in a common co-construction process. DC10 examines the overlapping of gender and homelessness in the process of co-construction, while DC11 will analyze the concept of advocacy of young people and birth parents with child protection experience across various settings.

Within this work package, the doctoral student will : 

  • Use participatory observation methods to analyse the community education, sensitization and awareness methodology applied in EKPSE
  • Evaluate the potential of community involvement to co-construct preventive actions for mental health and for combating stigma 
  • Examine parameters such as differences between urban and rural areas and cultural implications by comparing Greek regions (Attica, Fokida, Fthiotida, Evros, Rodopi).

This research project aims to :

  • Co-create service evaluation tools based on dimensions of well-being, empowerment, enabling environment, reinforcement of social ties including within the organisation 
  • Involve all stakeholders including service managers, practitioners and vulnerable people in the areas of child protection, disability, aging, minor refugees, homeless, unemployment 
  • Identify the impact of intersectionality on accessing co-construction within the Salvation Army Foundation.

Through this research project, the doctoral student will:

  • Identify causes of homelessness among the service users at Dan Church with a specific focus on gender issues. 
  • Conduct an ethnographic observation among homeless citizens 
  • Explore the agency of homeless men and women to make their way out of homelessness: 
  • Co-map the lifelines of homeless people
  • Include homeless citizens in the co-construction of a sustainable policy development with the local community.

To reach the target objectives of this research, the doctoral student will :

  • Identify legal and institutional contexts of decision-making, peer support and peer advocacy in child protection
  • Use qualitative methods to analyze how intersectionality influences young people’s and birth parents’ peer support and peer advocacy in various settings
  • Establish how peer advocacy influences decision-making at the level of individual interventions, social services and social policies
  • Assess peer support and peer advocacy practices regarding the well-being of young people, parents and practitioners.
